Before we talk about quality laser profiling, let us first talk about quality control, in general.

What is quality control?

Quality Control is a process by which any business which is providing a product ensures that the quality of that product is being either maintained at its expected level or being improved through better processes. Quality Control also ensures that the environment in which the product is being created is standardized with limited room for error. This involves ensuring that proper, qualified personnel are performing the job and are familiar with quality standards, so they know when a problem has occurred.

How does quality control apply to laser profiling?

In the laser profiling business, a lot of quality control takes the form of ensuring that the finished products provided to customers are free of roughness, burs, deformations, and material deposits caused by the cutting process. Most often the quality of a laser cut is dependent on the power and maintenance of the laser, with the most powerful lasers offering the highest quality cuts there are still some other factors to consider when performing quality control. The quality can also be affected by the density and type of the material being cut, material quality, the speed, the current facility and material temperature and again maintenance.

Quality control is essential to laser profiling because without it, the customer cannot be sure that they are receiving the best quality and true representation of the file provided.
